2-2 Taking chickens to market 2-3 Street scene about 1923 It’s not a flying saucer. That’s the rotunda atop the First Federal Plaza. Originally a rotating restaurant, now offices with a spectacular 360° view. Built in 1977, it was the First Federal Savings & Loan until the late 1990s and is currently the home of engineering, law and financial firms. The building and its underground garage are built over what used to be Front Street.
2-4 Delivering groceries by boat in flood of 1913 Front Street had quite a "colorful" reputation. The location of discount shops and markets, houses of ill-repute, during prohibition you might even find a little something to drink and missions where you could sleep it off. BACK - NEXT![]() |
