In The Loop
Rochester Postcard of the Day

Like I said before, you gotta keep looking up.

This is one of the few survivors. If you ever
stop by World Wide News on St. Paul Street for
a newspaper, this peeling chap is standing guard
over the parking lot. Harry Forman's building is
now the home of an electrical supply company.

These signs were everywhere. Some were just signs
for the business within that building, others advertised
a product or service sometime in another city. Here's
an example. This one is overlooking the old Reynolds
Arcade in a photo from between 1903-1915. The Union
Trust was just around the corner from this sign.

In this shot you see the same building about 1932.
(Just before they tore down the original arcade.)
This ad is touting the Hotel(?) Knickerbocker on
West 45th Street, waaaay down in New York City.
Remember, in 1932, NYC was not 5 hours away and
during the depression there weren't many tourist.

No matter the year or the economic conditions,
there was one sign Rochester could count on.
