Rochester Postcard of the Day

Tuesday, September 5, 2006

What a test. My most recent Navy advancement exam is over.
Three hours, two hundred questions, now empty brain.
It's amazing how much confidence you can have at noon.
And how little you have left at three.

But it's over, now on to the Postcard.

I've been trying to highlight events of the date through history.
Today is no exception but what a slow news day September 5th has
been. For instance in 1924 Officer Dick Meehan's horse Duke won
first prize in his class in the Rochester Exposition Horse Show.

Then there was the 1923 Baby Show. It's a lot like a Horse Show
except there's no baby dressage competition. This is little
Virgina Grace Coxon. She won first prize in her division.

Here's a few more of the tykes in the Baby Show.

In 1915 this shocking news was reported. With photos to back it up.

Yep, September 5th is one slow news day.

Finally, a couple of birthdays.
V'Ger turns 29 and
today is Bob Newhart's birthday.

Have a great day. In Rochester.
